Matt Rose & Chad Waters Biography
Matt Rose and Chad Waters are veterans of the special effects/make-up industry, working in the business for 22 and 18 years respectively. The duo first came together at Rick Baker's Cinovation Studios as creature/character effects artists. There they combined their ideas and talents to design creature suits and characters. They have been working as creative partners ever since and their innovative techniques and award-winning style have made them accomplished artists in their field.
Matt began teaching himself the art of special effects make-up at age 11. He learned the basics by reading books, watching videos and through hands-on experience, while still finding time to dabble in short films (Tirez la Cervea and Squibs). By the time he was 19, he started work on the motion picture Aliens. During his career as a make-up artist, Matt has been a pioneer in creature suit design and construction, where he perfected the craft while creating the title character in Predator. He has also served as a supervisor of make-up and creature designs on several films, where he coordinated and supervised entire projects from beginning to end. His most recent accomplishment was the design and application of the make-up which transformed Ron Perlman into Hellboy.
Chad got his fascination for the art of make-up and special effects from watching movies and television programs. He began making his own short movies in junior high, using friends and family as actors. His love for special effects and make-up was never far behind his passion for writing and directing. He began teaching himself the art of special effects at age 13, by watching videos and reading books. While going to art school, he began work on the feature film, Batman Returns. During his time as a make-up/creature artist, Chad has served as suit supervisor on set, where he worked closely with directors, production crew and suit actors.
Matt and Chad have served as supervisors of make-up and creature design on several films, where they coordinated and supervised entire projects from beginning to end. Recent accomplishments by Matt and Chad were the designs of the make-up which transformed Ron Perlman into Hellboy and John Alexander into the legless Bethmoora Goblin in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.
Their need and ability to produce their own work has led them back to their roots: film and television. Their artistic relationship has once again brought Matt and Chad to combine their unique talents--on a whole new level--by conceiving their own worlds of memorable characters and unforgettable stories. P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack!! was the realization of this new avenue of filmmaking. Not only did they create the make-up, effects, props and costumes, they also wrote, produced and directed the project. Since its inception, this proposed television show has spawned a comic book series and a toy line.
