FROM KING OF THE ANTS TO PRINCE OF THE STAGE

CHRIS McKENNA STARS IN
YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU

GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE CELEBRATES MOSS HART'S 100TH BIRTHDAY
WITH A STELLAR REVIVAL DIRECTED BY CHRISTOPHER HART

Los Angeles, CA. (04/19/05) -- He's been referred to as "a New-Millenium Travis Bickle hiding behind the inviting grin of Tom Cruise," by Nitrite OnLine, for his startling turn in Stuart Gordon's gritty thriller King Of The Ants. Now Chris McKenna is trading dark psychosis for quirky Americana, by putting those wholesome good looks to use as the charming scion to a family fortune, in the starring role of Geffen Playhouse's revival of the Moss Hart classic You Can't Take It With You. The revival of Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, directed by Hart's son Christopher and credited with paving the way for the TV sitcom, features a star-studded cast and runs April 20th through May 22nd at the Geffen Playhouse in Brentwood.

In the role made famous by James Stewart--both on Broadway and in the Frank Capra film that followed soon after--McKenna plays protagonist Tony Kirby, a bank president's son who wants to marry the granddaughter of an eccentric troublemaker. It seems that Tony's father has bought up all the property surrounding the old man's homestead and will do anything to get his hands on it, too. Which causes no end of complications for the young lovebirds stuck in the middle of the awkward family feud. Appearing alongside McKenna are Roy Dotrice (Picket Fences), Christina Pickles (The Wedding Singer), Ethan Phillips (Star Trek: Voyager), John Schuck (The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion) and Tony Abatemarco (A Day Without A Mexican), among others.

Chris McKenna first came to prominence at the age of 12, on the daytime series, One Life To Live. During his three-year stint, Chris was nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award, as Outstanding Child Actor, and two Young Artist Awards, for Best Young Actor In A Soap Opera and Best Young Actor In A Daytime Series. Taking time off after this auspicious debut to hone his craft at Hofstra University in New York and the Beverly Hills Playhouse--where he studied under famed acting coach, Milton Katselas--McKenna moved on to small roles in such notable films as In & Out and Academy Boyz, as well as the short-lived television series, Opposite Sex. He also made many memorable appearances in such shows as The Practice, Touched By An Angel, That's Life and That '70s Show. Most recently, he received rave reviews for his principal role in Stuart Gordon's disturbing noir thriller, King Of The Ants. His next role will be opposite John Malkovich in Art School Confidential.

You Can't Take It With You will run April 20 - May 22, 2005 at the Geffen Playhouse, located at the Brentwood Theatre, on the grounds of the Veterans Administration at 11301 Wilshire Boulevard, building 211 in Brentwood. Showtimes are Tuesdays - Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays at 8:00 p.m.; Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.; and Sundays at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m..
