While we're looking back, here's an update on "Pray For Dawn," the zombie flick that claimed top honors in the fall at the Pomona Film Festival, better known as Smogdance.

To refresh your memory, the movie, by Rancho Cucamonga filmmaker Brian Barnhart, took place in a post-apocalyptic future in which pockets of humanity are on the run from Miss Cleo, I mean, from flesh-eating zombies.

Shockingly, "Pray For Dawn" wasn't nominated for any Academy Awards, but Barnhart is forging ahead with a sequel anyway. "Pray For Dawn II"--and I suppose it was either that or "Pray For Daylight Saving"--will feature his two heroes battling zombies for control of a supply-laden underground military bunker.

Barnhart is also working on a DVD version of the first movie and if he does a director's commentary, perhaps he'll describe what it was like to film in such exotic locales as his parents' garage, a cabin in Joshua Tree dn the Rancho Cucamonga eatery Terry's Burgers.

The late night shoot at Terry's apparently rivaled the plot itself for heart-stopping suspense; Because Barnhart didn't have any film permits, the lone Terry's employoee kept one eye peeled for the cops...
