Entering the industry in 1986 and quickly establishing his career as a makeup artist, sculptor and one of the top animatronic designers in the business, he has worked on over 41 feature films, including Total Recall, Darkman, Mighty Joe Young, Bicentennial Man, Men In Black 1 & 2 and A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.

Before attracting some of the most talented creative minds in the field, SMI participated in the creation of effects in successful collaboration with such top-notch effects companies as Rick Baker's Cinovation and Stan Winston Studio. Elizalde and his wife Mary established the company as a vehicle for producing and successfully marketing a series of original model kits sculpted by Elizalde. Combining that need with his already burgeoning career in cinematic effects, the stage was set for the birth of one of the more innovative effects companies working in the industry today.

It's no surprise, then, that the projects continue to grow in scope and profile, with solo efforts on two of the most anticipated movies of 2004, Hellboy and Blade 3.
